Fossil Discovery

Another really fun idea that I found in our Preschool Science book was a fossil discovery.

I made imprints of four different objects in playdough. I used a shell, a round stone, and two plastic animals with different sized feet.

Then I let the boys explore the four “fossils” and make guesses about what they thought they came from. At first Love Bug was just guessing that they were from dinosaurs. I explained to him what fossils really were and what kinds of things could be found in fossils.

After he shared what he thought made these fossils, I showed him the four objects I’d used and had him match them.

He did really well with that part, especially comparing the two different sized animal prints.

About Kelly

I'm a stay-at-home mom to two boys and a girl. My Love Bug is 4 and has been doing art projects since just after turning 2. My Sweet Pea is 2 and tries to do everything his brother does. Little Flower is 4 months and has no idea of all the fun she has ahead of her.
