Sensory Number Bin

I was looking for a way to use up some of the leftover rice and popcorn from our food sensory board, and I came across this idea that I decided to adapt to what I needed/what we had available.

I filled a container with the rice and popcorn kernels (there wasn’t much) and added in some small colorful foam numbers, and then let the boys play.

In addition to being a good number activity, there was a lot of sensory stuff going on – with the different colors and the various textures of the numbers compared to the foods. It was good for Sweet Pea to talk about hard and soft and also words like slippery. Plus we talked about how the kernels are different from popped popcorn and how this rice was hard because it was uncooked.

It was also fun to dig and search for each number.
