Walking Water Science Fun

We don’t do much in the way of science activities (though I’d like to!). I recently discovered the walking water experiment from Coffee Cups and Crayons that seemed really easy and fun.

All we did was take three glasses – one with water and red food coloring, one with water and yellow food coloring, and one empty glass. We folded up two paper towels and put one end of each into one of the glasses with water and the other ends into the empty glass.

Little by little, the water started to “walk” up the paper towels, and drip off into the empty glass. And we ended up with a glass of orange water in the middle.

Love Bug got such a kick out of this, especially as it really filled up.
