Tomatoes and Lettuce!

We had a few leftover cherry tomatoes that were getting old and some slightly wilted lettuce, so instead of wasting them completely, we turned them into project material!

First, the tomatoes. I gave Love Bug and Sweet Pea some bowls, spoons, etc., a cup of water, and a bunch of little tomatoes to do what they wanted with.

Love Bug was trying to make tomato soup and had fun squeezing them. Sweet Pea was mostly just transferring them from bowl to bowl and mixing them a bit.

Then, the lettuce. We did painting with lettuce. Sweet Pea had no interest in it. He hated the feel of it and didn’t want to paint with it at all. (He ended up just finger-painting.)

Love Bug tried a few different things. Rolling it up to use as a brush:

Covering it with paint and shaking it so the paint dotted the paper (which I wouldn’t have thought of doing and actually came out really cool):

About Kelly

I'm a stay-at-home mom to two boys and a girl. My Love Bug is 4 and has been doing art projects since just after turning 2. My Sweet Pea is 2 and tries to do everything his brother does. Little Flower is 4 months and has no idea of all the fun she has ahead of her.
