This summer, we’ve tried to spend as much time outside as possible, and I’m always trying to come up with new ideas of things to do.
One evening after it rained, we did a few fun games. There were a few leaves blown around the street, so we took them and tried to figure out what trees they came from. It was a fun comparison game for Love Bug and a good way for him to make guesses and try to match. We pulled down the lower branches of the trees to compare and see if he was right.
Another activity the same night was our “watering tree” game. I would pull down a still wet branch of the tree and then let it go so that water drops went all over the boys. They had so much fun with it and just wanted me to keep doing it even after we’d shaken most of the water off.
And for a simple painting activity, we used watercolors to paint what we saw outside. Love Bug painted the grass, sun, sky, and a lawnmower. Sweet Pea just painted the moon because he always paints/draws the moon.
