Credit Card Painting

We didn’t actually use credit cards. Just an old library card! But obviously any card like that would work (expired gift card, etc.).

We got this idea from from Happy Hooligans, and I thought the finished products there looked really awesome, plus I thought Sweet Pea and Love Bug would have fun changing things up with the acrylic paints their Auntie had given us a while back.

The acrylic paints actually weren’t so fun for them. And they ended up being messy. And not so washable like the stuff we’re used to.

What we did was drizzle a few different colors of the acrylics onto a thick paper. The plan was to use the credit card to scrape the paint across the paper, which would blend the colors together.

Love Bug wasn’t really too thrilled with this idea. For some reason, he wanted to stick the card in the paper and I guess just stamp with it. I finally got him to try a little bit of the planned idea, but he went a little crazy and purposely splashed the paint around!

Not our most successful or easiest project, though definitely worth saving for the future. I still really like how they came out.

And Sweet Pea’s (He made some unfortunate color selections that included quite a bit of black and an unappealing color called Avocado.):

About Kelly

I'm a stay-at-home mom to two boys and a girl. My Love Bug is 4 and has been doing art projects since just after turning 2. My Sweet Pea is 2 and tries to do everything his brother does. Little Flower is 4 months and has no idea of all the fun she has ahead of her.
