Mardi Gras Masks

For Mardi Gras last year, I introduced Love Bug to masks.

First, I cut out a few different mask shapes from templates I’d printed. For the first Mardi Gras mask, he glued feathers all around it, and then we added a popsicle stick for a holder. He really enjoyed doing that, so we made another type. This one he painted blue, and then we stapled different color ribbons to it. Again we used a popsicle stick holder.

These were simple and fun to make, and he had a lot of fun with them. We didn’t use especially sturdy paper, so they didn’t hold up after a lot of use, so it would really work better with something like cardstock.

I’m hoping we can try this hand print mask craft this year, too.

Just for fun, here’s a picture of Love Bug’s first Mardi Gras, three years ago!
