Tooth Projects, Part One

Love Bug will be going to the dentist for the first time later this week (He’s coming with me to see what it’s like and then getting in the chair and probably having them just count his teeth but not clean them), so I wanted to help him get ready by doing some projects dealing with teeth and dental health.

The first two that we did were healthy/unhealthy teeth picture gluing and gluing teeth on a mouth. Both of these ideas I got here. (There are also several others on that site.)

For the healthy/unhealthy teeth, I made two teeth – one white with a smile and one yellow with a frown.

I had found a bunch of pictures of sugary foods and of healthy foods or things like toothbrushes. Then we talked about which tooth they should go with and glued them on. He really understood where things would go and only wasn’t sure about the ice cream. He even used the toothbrush picture to clean the sugar bugs off the yellow tooth. He wanted to put the mouthwash and toothpaste picture on that tooth, too, because they could help clean it.

Our healthy tooth was so full you can’t even tell what it is anymore!

For the mouth project, I printed a mouth template and cut small pieces of paper to be the teeth. Then he glued them around the mouth.
