Marble Painting – one of my favorites!

This was a project that I actually kind of wanted to do myself. I love how it came out, and I really wanted Love Bug to make a second one but he wasn’t interested.

I’ve had this idea forever but just finally got some marbles to make it happen. (I originally found it on Play Create Explore, but the older links on her site no longer work so I can’t link to it.)

It’s really simple. We put a paper inside a plastic container with high edges, dipped a few marbles in a few different colors of paint, dropped them on the paper, and shook the container around to make the marbles roll.

Love Bug was a little eager about the shaking part, so marbles went flying a few times (so much for the high edges to contain them!), but it was a lot of fun. The spirally look is great!

I love how so many of the projects we do (snap painting, drip painting….) have a Jackson Pollock feel to them. I love having these covering my refrigerator because they’re just so cool to look at. These usually end up being my favorites, and I don’t want to take them down even to make room for new paintings!

About Kelly

I'm a stay-at-home mom to two boys and a girl. My Love Bug is 4 and has been doing art projects since just after turning 2. My Sweet Pea is 2 and tries to do everything his brother does. Little Flower is 4 months and has no idea of all the fun she has ahead of her.
