Duplo Alphabet

Early one morning (and by “early,” I mean before the sun was up and Love Bug was still saying it was nighttime and wanting to go on the deck to look for stars and the moon) the boys and I were awake, and Love Bug announced that he wanted to make letters out of things. I’d had this idea planned for a while, and when I suggested it he was really excited.

I had a set of letters printed on 8x11s that we’d used for our shaping letters with sticks and strings project (where we only made it up to C and I did half the work). So I pulled out those and the Duplos, and he put Duplos on the paper to form the letters. And soon he announced that it was “almost wake time” (though we’d been awake for at least an hour at this point….)

I was worried he’d only want the square Duplos because a lot of times that all he wants to build with, but he was using every type. We made it to R before we ran out and had to start taking them off the other letters.

He was really into it and did almost all of it by himself. I helped with one letter and that was only because the paper was far from him and he was being a bit lazy. He asked to do it again later that night when we were telling Daddy about it. So it was a definite hit!
