Caterpillar crafts are so fun and cute. Here are a few that we’ve done.
1. Egg carton caterpillar (my favorite) using half an egg carton, pipe cleaner, paint, and two cheerios for eyes. I cut the egg carton and poked two holes in the top of the first piece in advance. Then I let Love Bug paint it green (which was so cute), and we glued on Cheerio eyes. He played with this for days afterwards. Simple and adorable.
2. Pompom/cotton ball caterpillars on a popsicle stick – I put a line of glue on the popsicle stick, and then Love Bug stuck down a cotton ball head and all the little pompom pieces. Then I drew a face on the cotton ball. Cute and a good fine motor activity, too.
3. Plastic egg caterpillar – I had to do a lot of the work on this one because he couldn’t quite handle the gluing since there’s such a small space to stick the glue on. I was worried it wouldn’t stick down too well, but it actually came out just fine. The eggs all have small holes in them, so I was able to feed the pipe cleaner through it and twist the edges for an antenna. The eyes are stickers from our craft jar. They were actually the inside of a sticky zero that I popped out and cut into circles. He enjoyed sticking on the eyes.
