Soap and Shaving Cream Sensory

We haven’t being doing too many projects lately with the boys being sick, but today while Sweet Pea was napping we did this easy, sort of messy sensory activity with foam soap, shaving cream, and paint.

We made foam soap by sticking some Ivory soap in the microwave. It’s crazy how quickly it puffs up. We had it in for about a minute and a half, and it puffed up off the plate. The texture was really strange. The outside of it was slightly firm, like a thin crust, and the inside felt completely different – almost exactly like a bunch of tiny pieces of toilet paper. Love Bug really liked the feeling of it. Then we mixed up shaving cream with purple paint and added that in too. (He loves playing with shaving cream.) Because of the amount of soap compared to everything else, you couldn’t paint with it, but it was fun to smush around and spoon into bowls.
