Salt Chalk Art

This one sort of ended up being a disappointment, but I want to share it anyway because it was still a really fun process that could’ve turned out better if I’d done something differently. (Or maybe a lot of things differently.)

We lined the bottom of a small container (a restaurant to-go tin) with salt. Then we mixed in some colorful sidewalk chalk. It mixes up and breaks up really easily and turns it to colorful salt. (I think we should’ve used more chalk and made it darker, but Love Bug really wasn’t into it and I had to do most of the work here.)

Then we put glue on a paper (and I think we should’ve really loaded it up with glue rather than making thinner lines of fun designs), dumped on the chalk salt, and poured off the excess.

The problem was that a lot of the colorful chalk came off at this point, leaving just very lightly colored salt designs, so that was a disappointment. But we might try this again somewhere down the road.
